What is ramen and what does it consist of?
Ramen is noodles with broth and various toppings: beef, chicken, fish, seafood, vegetables, herbs, eggs, mushrooms, and other ingredients.
This Asian dish is especially popular in Japan.
Unlike classic soups, most of the ingredients are cooked separately and mixed together in the bowl before serving.
The History of Ramen
The word "ramen" most likely comes from the Chinese "lamian," meaning "pulled noodles"
It is believed that ramen originated in China. This inexpensive, simple, and filling dish was popular among workers. They also brought it to Japan, where they began selling the soup from mobile street stalls.
After World War II, rice became quite scarce, but flour was supplied in large quantities from the United States as humanitarian aid. It was then that a real boom occurred, making ramen a cult dish. It spread not only to Japan but also to Korea.
